Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer for The Celebrity Championship Hosted by Marshall Faulk.  Volunteers are an essential part of ensuring a smooth and effective golf tournament.  We greatly appreciate and value all of your enthusiasm and effort.  The Celebrity Championship Hosted by Marshall Faulk offers a wide variety of rewarding opportunities for volunteers.

 As a volunteer you will receive the following:

  • One (1) Official Celebrity Championship Hosted by Marshall Faulk golf shirt
  • One (1) Volunteer badge
  • Four (4) 3-day tournament tickets and one (1) parking pass
  • One (1) Breakfast and/or lunch voucher will be provided for each day worked
  • One (1) Invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party
  • One (1) round of golf at La Costa Resort and Spa
    • Must work minimum of three shifts (18 hours). Complimentary greens fee.
    • $20 cart fee not included. Limit One per person
  • Note: As in years past, each volunteer is asked to pay a volunteer fee to help offset the cost of the volunteer shirts. 

         Cost to volunteer: $37 (value $270)

In order to guarantee your shirt size, we will need to receive your registration and payment by April 1, 2014.

A volunteer orientation session will be held on Friday, May 9 in the Costa Del Sol Ballroom at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. The session will consist of the distribution of volunteer uniforms/badges and other pertinent information including schedules and assignments. Volunteer schedules vary depending on which service is assigned.  Please refer to each individual volunteer opportunities for specific schedules required.


 Volunteer Opportunities


We have listed below a menu of volunteer opportunities that exist for this exciting event. Each volunteer will be asked to choose their 1st, 2nd and 3rd committee choices. We will make every attempt to assign every volunteer to their 1st choice, but as committees get filled we might have to ask volunteers to move to their 2nd or 3rd choice. When making your selections, please note that not all committees will be needed every day of the tournament (complete listing follows).

Tournament Office Support Volunteers Dates Needed:  Monday, May 12 - Sunday, May 18

  • General office duties as needed
  • Answer telephones Assemble tournament packages
  • Maintain the office
  • Customer service

Front Gate/Ambassador Volunteers  Dates Needed:  Friday, May 16 - Sunday, May 18

  • Distribute prepaid credentials left in Will Call for tournament guests and spectators
  • Check admission credentials and sell tickets to the general public during the Tournament
  • Ambassadors will assist with directing guests throughout the resort

Volunteer Headquarters Volunteers Dates Needed:  Thursday, May 15 - Sunday, May 18

  • Oversee volunteer headquarters and volunteer check-in during Tournament week
  • Assist with distributing volunteer meal tickets and maintaining the area

Celebrity/Amateur Registration Volunteers - Dates Needed:  Wednesday, May 14 - Saturday, May 17

  • Register all celebrity and amateur participants

Parking/Shuttle Volunteers - Dates Needed:  Friday, May 16 - Sunday, May 18

  • Provide transportation for spectators and volunteers to/from their respective lots
  • Coordinate and manage the spectator and volunteer parking areas
  • NOTE: Transportation volunteers will receive two hours of volunteer service for each hour served

On-Course Promotions Volunteers - Dates Needed:  Friday, May 16 - Sunday, May 18

  • Assist with Celebrity/Amateur on-course contests on Thursday and Friday
  • Assist with general public promotions on Saturday and Sunday
  • Assist with equipment, line control and money collection

Scorer Volunteers - Dates Needed:  Friday, May 16 - Sunday, May 18

  • Accompany each group of Celebrity/Amateur Players during all Tournament rounds
  • Record a hole-by-hole score for each player
  • Verify and record each player's score on the Official Score Card

Leaderboard Volunteers - Dates Needed:  Saturday, May 17 & Sunday, May 18

  • Establish and maintain statistics of Leaders throughout the Tournament rounds
  • Update the leader-board
  • Track tournament scores and update leader board
  • Receive scores from the scorers, compare and confirm each group's scores and track them
  • Receive scorecards from players after each round and verify them before they become official
  • NOTE: Familiarity with golf scoring is essential
